What is BMI?

Body mass index is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It is a screening measure and does not directly measure body fat or diagnose a health condition.

Understanding the result

For adults, standard categories commonly classify BMI below 18.5 as underweight, 18.5–24.9 as healthy weight, 25–29.9 as overweight, and 30 or above as obesity. These ranges do not apply to children and teenagers and may not fully reflect individual health.
